Completion certificates
Certificates are a course feature. Open a course and click the Certificates tab. Other product types don’t have it.
Turn certificates on
The toggle does exactly what it says: members who complete 100% of this course can download their certificate.
Choose a design
There are five built-in designs:
- Classic: ivory with a double border and serif type.
- Modern: left-aligned, with a strong sans-serif typeface and an accent bar.
- Elegant: navy and gold with a luxury serif.
- Bold: with a coloured side band.
- Minimal: plenty of white space and thin lines.
Set the wording
You can change the certificate title, the opening line above the learner’s name, the line below the name, the name shown with the signature and a short custom note printed above the footer. Leave a field empty and we’ll use a sensible default.
Three checkboxes control what’s shown: course title, issue date and certificate number. Below them, a validity field in months prints an expiry date on the certificate. Leave it empty and the certificate never expires.
Add your mark
Set an accent colour and, optionally, a logo from your media library. Without a logo, your brand name is printed as a text wordmark.
Preview before you save
The Preview PDF button opens a sample certificate issued to a fictional learner, so you can check the layout without waiting for a real completion.
What actually triggers a certificate
Saving the template doesn’t issue anything. A certificate is created the first time a member downloads it from inside the course, and only when all of these conditions are met:
- The person is logged in and has access to the course.
- The course is published.
- All published lessons in all published modules are completed.
- The template exists and is switched on.
Each certificate is issued once
The first download creates a record with a unique certificate number, and every later download serves the same record with the same number and the same issue date. Adding lessons later doesn’t reissue or renumber a certificate someone already has.
