Using the email builder

Explain it simply with: ChatGPT Claude Perplexity Gemini Grok

Open any email and click Edit in builder. The editor fills the screen: the canvas in the middle, a panel on the left and a toolbar at the top with Undo, Redo, device previews (Desktop, Tablet portrait and Phone portrait) and the Templates, Preview, Send test and Save email buttons.

Two modes

At the top of the panel you switch between the Visual and Plain text modes. Plain text is a single rich-text field, and a note underneath explains what happens: your text is placed in a clean email layout, with the footer and unsubscribe link added automatically. Visual mode is the block builder described below.

Blocks

The left panel has two tabs, Blocks and Style. The block palette is grouped and searchable:

  • Basic: Text, Image, Button, Divider, Quote, Spacer.
  • Media: Logo, Video, Social links, Product card, Countdown, Announcement.
  • Layout: Columns, Image and text, Image and image, Text and text.
  • Advanced: Custom HTML.
  • Saved blocks: your own reusable sections.

Drag a block onto the email, or click it to add it at the end. Select a block on the canvas and its settings appear in the panel: alignment, colours, corner radius, width, and separate spacing for desktop and phone. Any block can be hidden on phones.

Smart links

Images and buttons have a Link action instead of a plain address field. Choose No link, Web address, Go to landing page, Go to checkout or Download file, then pick the item. The correct address is filled in automatically at the moment of sending, so it never goes out of date.

Personalisation

The Personalise button inserts dynamic fields into the subject, preheader and body: First name, Last name, Full name, Name, Email address, Phone, Mobile phone, Address, Address line 2, City, State or region, Country, Postcode and Company number. Empty fields get a safe fallback value instead of a raw placeholder.

Subject and preview text

Click the subject at the top to open a small window with the Subject and Preheader fields and a switch for A/B testing the subject line, so half your recipients get version A and half get version B.

Saving and reusing

Select a block and choose Save section to keep it as a reusable piece, or use Save current as template in the Templates gallery to keep the whole email. See Email templates and saved sections.

Check before sending

Preview opens the compiled email with sample values. Send test delivers it to any address you enter (your own by default).
