Sending your first email campaign
Open Marketing → Email campaigns. This page lists all your emails, with folders on the left, a search box, type and status filters, and the Sent, Opened, Clicked, Unsubscribes and Last modified columns.
Create the email
Click New email. Choose a type and give it an internal name (only you can see it), then press Create email.
- A one-off campaign is a single email sent once: newsletters, announcements and promotions.
- A sequence is a series spread over time and delivered by automations, as described in Automations and sequences.
A one-off campaign opens with six tabs: Content, Recipients, A/B test, Schedule, Stats and Settings.
Write the content
The Content tab shows the subject, the preheader and the status of the design. Click Edit in builder to design the message; see Using the email builder. Once a saved design exists, the tab shows "Ready to send".
Choose your recipients
On the Recipients tab, choose one of two options:
- All subscribed contacts: everyone in Contacts who is subscribed to marketing emails, or
- Selected tags or lists: tick any combination of tags, lists and segments. Your selections combine as "any of", so a contact who matches any of them receives the email exactly once.
The recipient count updates live as you tick. Unsubscribed and bounced contacts are always excluded automatically, so you don’t need to filter them out.
Send now or schedule
The Schedule tab opens with an "Almost ready" checklist covering the two things that block sending: designing the email and choosing recipients. Once both are ticked:
- Send now starts sending to all recipients immediately. You’ll be asked to confirm, with the number of recipients shown in the dialog. Once sending has started, it can’t be undone.
- Schedule takes a date and time and sends automatically. The time must be in the future.
After you confirm
A scheduled email shows a bar with Pause and Cancel schedule buttons. Cancelling returns the email to Draft status, as long as nothing has been sent yet. While sending is in progress, the bar offers Pause. If some deliveries fail, Retry failed queues just those messages again, and nobody who has already received the email gets it a second time.
Tidying up
The Settings tab lets you rename the email, move it to a folder, duplicate it or delete it. Deleting removes the design, recipients and schedule, but the history of sends so far is kept.
