Access levels group your members so you can lock selected pages for a specific group. They live under Contacts → Page access levels.
Create a level
Click New level, give it a name, for example Premium or Course access, add an optional description and save. Colours are assigned automatically. The list shows each level with its member count, and you can search and filter the whole list.
One level can be the default
Tick the option to make a level the default when you create or edit it. That level is granted automatically to everyone who signs up as a member on your site. Only one level can be the default at a time, so setting a new one removes the previous one.
Assigning levels
You assign levels from the member’s profile. Open the contact under Contacts → All contacts and use the level picker in the membership panel. That and the default level at sign-up are the only ways to hand out levels.
What levels lock
Levels lock pages, and only pages. In a page’s details you can restrict it to members with a specific level. See Members-only pages.
What levels don’t lock
Buying a product doesn’t assign a level, and having a level doesn’t unlock a course, ebook, files or a community. Access in the member area comes from grants, recorded when someone buys, when you grant access by email address, or when someone is given a community. These are two independent systems, so a member can have a level and own nothing, or own everything and have no level. See Granting and revoking access.
Deleting a level is safe
Members keep their accounts and simply lose that level. Any page locked to the deleted level goes back to being open to any member, rather than blocking everyone.
Members see their levels
They appear in the membership section of the member’s account page.
