Your heyhey dashboard has two separate places related to articles, and it helps to know which one you are working in.
Blog pages vs blog posts
Blog pages. Under Website → Blog you’ll find an ordinary list of pages. The New blog post button there opens the template gallery, limited to article layouts: from a classic article, through a version with a large image, to a blog home page. You build and publish these pages exactly like any other, each at its own URL.
Blog posts. These are written posts, stored separately. They power the /blog section of your website and the latest posts widget. You’ll find them in your heyhey dashboard via the Blog posts button at the top of the Blog tab.
Writing a post
Click New blog post. An untitled draft is created and the editor opens straight away. In the main column you have:
- Title.
- Excerpt, a short summary used in the post list and when the post is shared on social media. If you leave it empty, one is generated automatically from the content.
- Content, written in HTML. Headings, paragraphs, lists, links and quotes are supported, and the content is cleaned up when you publish.
In the side column you set:
- URL (slug), created from the title unless you change it.
- Author, set to your name by default.
- Tags, separated by commas. Readers can filter the blog by tag.
- Featured image, chosen from your media library.
- SEO and social media: the page title, page description and the image used for sharing.
Click Save to keep working and Publish when the post is ready. Unpublish turns the post back into a draft. A published post has a View link that opens the live article.
Where posts appear
Published posts are shown on your connected domain: the list at /blog and each article at /blog/post-name, framed by your default header and footer. The list shows nine posts per page and supports search and filtering by tag. Drafts return a 404 error, so nothing leaks out early.
Managing posts
The post list supports searching by title and excerpt, a status filter (draft or published), sorting and a menu on each row with options to edit, publish, unpublish and delete. You can also tag posts and add them to lists.
Blog settings
Under Settings → Blog you set the title, description and sharing image of the blog itself, used when someone shares the blog address as a whole.
